The Boyle Family are a real family. Mark Boyle and Joan Hills met in Harrogate, Yorkshire in 1957. Joan had studied art and architecture and was bringing up her first son Cameron whilst running her own business. Mark was in the army, writing poetry. In there work they describe and document places. There best known work is the Earth Studies, which includes 'World Series' this is there most interesting one. Visitors to there studio were asked to put a blindfold on and throw darts at a big map of the world, which covered a wall. After doing this they had about 1000 sites. They visited these places and re-created those areas where people had thrown the dart on the map, they re-created them using resin, fibreglass and real materials from the site itself. There work has been shown around the world in galleries and is still being shown today.
Above are some examples of there work.
